Dr. Martens - a story of endurance

Well, for a time I thought they'd break me rather than me break them in. But I have succeeded, so thought I'd share my journey with you......

At first glance I just knew I had to have them, I reminisced with my memories of youth and of school shoes too many years ago now to mention.  I thought I could carry these off as my sensible work shoes, not OxBlood this time round but beautiful black patent.

The saga of breaking them in began on a Monday and by lunch time I could feel the spongey, fluid filled heel blisters developing. So I grabbed some fleecy anti friction dressing from my podiatry trolley, and my heels were bearable for the rest of that day.  So on Tuesday I was more prepared with compeed heel blister plasters, and by Wednesday I decided best to leave them at home.

Week two began on the Monday with fresh blister dressings and lasted two days before I returned to my old faithful comfortable shoes.  A month went by like this a few days here and there wearing these beauties but my peachy heels just weren't toughening up.....

I knew I had to have a solution and thankfully I did, it came in the disguise of a pair of gel heel raises. These little cushions of heaven raised my blistered heels past the point of friction of the heel counter of the DM.

 Ahhhh comfort

Ahhhh comfort

Within a few days I could ditch the compeed plasters and three months on they are comfortable and totally gorgeous.  Oh, and most importantly they didn't get the better of me and my chosen career path is safe.

 Comfort at last!
